0817 Conquering Two Sleep Birds with One Iron stone: The Case of Resolved Restless Sleep Disorder and Parasomnia with Iron Therapy

Abstract Introduction Restless Sleep Disorder (RSD) is characterized by frequent nocturnal movements of large muscle groups or a complaint restless sleep observers with associated daytime dysfunction.1 RSD, like other movement disorders sleep, low iron stores.2 Children RSD have increased NREM instability and propensity for parasomnia.2 No reports to date demonstrated the use therapy parasomnia in patients RSD. Furthermore, studies are limited very young children this disorder as they currently fall outside proposed diagnostic criteria.1 Report Cases: A 2 year-old male presented clinic parental complaints nightly initiation maintenance difficulty, mild snoring, episodes sleepwalking night terrors multiple times per week. Symptoms worsened over 6 months were irritability behavioral problems. quality measures assessed progress between visits: PROMIS Disturbance (PROMIS SD) Related Impairment SRI). Serum ferritin was initially 20ug/L. Polysmnogram no significant related breathing disorder, group index 14, periodic limb 3. Initial treatment included oral therapy, scheduled awakenings, hypnotic dose melatonin. The psychologist addressed limit setting negative associations improved insomnia symptoms but continued. parent noted reduction both frequency after one month therapy. After 3 period on treatment, reported complete cessation parasomnia, drastic restlessness, near resolution insomnia. measure SD 11, demonstrating reduced disturbance. SRI did not change. Ferritin level 47ug/L. Conclusion child responded improving overall quality. This case demonstrates relationship relative deficiency, parasomnia. Support (If Any) 1.
